There were over 40 members at the June meeting when usually many members are on vacation or working in their garden. Our very own Reed Grey presented different ways in turning a bowl. Reed had triangle, square, and regular bowls on display. Thank you, Reed, for a great educational performance. A type of bowl by members own choosing will be our challenge for this month. We have had many members bring turnings in for show and tell. That’s what it’s all about.
I talked to Nick Stagg the other day. Nick will present our July program. He will be showing us different ways to hollow boxes.
Part of our 10th Anniversary celebration will be on July 24th in front of Woodcraft Store from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. There will be at least five lathes for the members to take turns on to turn whatever they choose. We hope that many members will take part in this project.
Our August Meeting will be our 10th Anniversary meeting. Our tentative plans so far is this: It will be at Woodcraft. It will be a buffet dinner. The club will pick up the chicken, plates and utensils, and drinks. In looking at the membership roster, if A through H would bring a salad, and J through Z bring a desert, it would work out about even. Each member can bring a spouse or significant other, or child, or grandchild, or any other combination you so desire. We will ask for a headcount at our July meeting. If you cannot attend the July meeting, please contact Paul Foshay. Each member can bring two of their best turnings in the last couple years. This is just for display purposes. Also, members may bring tools that they have made, or bought that they would like to share with the members.
The activities of the club for this Summer sound like great fun. We hope there will be high turnout from our members.
Thats all. See you on the 26th. Keep on turning.
